(info) What is a bypass code?

A bypass code is a temporary code that can be issued to a customer to authenticate with Duo when the customer does not have their registered device.

The bypass code the Service Desk will generate will always be a randomly generated 9 digit code that is valid for *X amount of time, and has unlimited uses.

If a customer requests a bypass code that needs to be longer than 10 hours, the request has to go to the Information Security Queue.

  • The length of time depends on the need of the customer and must be approved by an IT Service Desk Staff/Supervisor. 1 day will see a 1440 minute entry when creating the code. 5 days, 7200 minutes. For fob-related bypass codes, 14 days, or 20160 minutes will be entered.
