(question) How do I use the

smartphone

mobile app?

There are 2 ways to use the smartphone Duo app.

  • By push notification sent to your phone and you tap accept to authenticate. This method requires an internet connection.

  • By passcode, you would need to open up the app and use the 6 digit pass code provided like the fob. This method can be used without an internet connection.

🔧 Setup DUO directly on

Smartphone

  1. Log into your SJSUOne account using your ID and Password. You will then see the following screen. Click Select "setupGet started."

  1. Scroll down and click "start setup."

"Mobile phone" is the default. If you are adding Touch ID, select "Laptop."

  1. If entering a mobile phone, select phone type (either iPhone, android, or Windows phone) and click "continue."

  1. And you will be shown an option to go to Duo Mobile app. Make sure that you have DUO Mobile downloaded on your device before proceeding.

  1. Click “Open” or ”Allow” when the prompt shows up.

  1. Set name of the account and click “Done”. Go back to the browser and click “Next”

  1. Click Continue to Login.

  1. Select continue and then a pop-up will appear asking you to open in Duo Mobile. Select “Open”

  1. The app will then open and you will be asked to name the account. Set the name (you may leave as the default) and click “Done”.

  1. Go back to the setup prompt in your browser and select the "Continue" button to proceed with logging in.

  1. Follow the Duo Universal Prompt to complete your login. "Send me a Push" brings up a yes-or-no prompt within the app."Enter a Passcode" uses the six-digit passcode displayed in your app account listing

  1. In Duo Mobile click, "Get started" for Android users or "Add Account" for iPhone users. If that option is not displayedyou have another account already, click the "+" in the top right corner of the home screen, or the "Add+" icon and then select "Use QR Code."

Allow camera permissions (if they are not already allowed) and scan the QR code

  1. Once code is scanned, you will see a green checkmark on it and a 6-digit number in the DUO Mobile app (this is a one-time passcode number).

🗑 Removing a Device

Phone information is not needed to reassign phone.

Upon completion of steps, customers needs to sign in, Duo will walk them through authentication of the new phone.

For in-person help, when adding/replacing a smart device, the customer must have new smart device with them

  5. This will open the profile for that SJSU id number

  6. Scroll to down the phone or hardware section depending on what they have to replace/reassign

    Click on the trash can to remove assigned fob or phone
