(question) How do I use the mobile app?

There are 2 ways to use the Duo app.

  • By push notification sent to your phone and you tap accept to authenticate. This method requires an internet connection.

  • By passcode, you would need to open up the app and use the 6 digit pass code provided like the fob. This method can be used without an internet connection.

🔧 Setup DUO directly on Smart Device (without computer)

  1. Log into your SJSUOne account using your ID and Password. You will then see the following screen. Select "Get started." or “Set up”

  1. Select “Enroll”

  1. You will be asked to select a verification method. To add a smart device select Duo Mobile.

  1. If adding a mobile phone, enter the phone number and country. If you are adding an iPad or Tablet, select "I have a tablet”

  1. If the number you entered is correct select “Yes, it’s correct” if you need to change it you will be taken to the previous page

  1. Make sure you have the Duo Mobile app installed on your device and then select “next”

  1. Select continue and then a pop-up will appear asking you to open in Duo Mobile. Select “Open”

  1. The app will then open and you will be asked to name the account. Set the name (you may leave as the default) and click “Done”.

  1. Go back to the setup prompt in your browser and select the "Continue" button to proceed with logging in.

  1. Follow the Duo Universal Prompt to complete your login. "Send me a Push" brings up a yes-or-no prompt within the app."Enter a Passcode" uses the six-digit passcode displayed in your app account listing

🔧 Setup DUO on Smartphone (with computer)

  1. Log into your SJSUOne account using your ID and Password. You will then see the following screen. Click "setup."

  1. Scroll down and click "start setup."

  1. "Mobile phone" is the default. If you are adding Touch ID, select "Laptop." If you are adding an iPad or Tablet, select "Tablet" and "continue."

  1. If entering a mobile device, enter the phone number and click "continue." You may be asked to "confirm" your number is correct. Check the box and "continue."

  1. If entering a mobile phone, select phone type (either iPhone, android, or Windows phone) and click "continue."

  1. Click "I have duo mobile".

  1. And you will be shown a

QR Code. Make sure that you have DUO Mobile downloaded on your device before proceeding.

  1. In Duo Mobile click, "Get started" for Android users or "Add Account" for iPhone users. If that option is not displayed, click the "+" in the top right corner, or the "Add+" icon and then select "Use QR Code."

  1. Once code is scanned, you will see a green checkmark on it and a 6-digit number in the DUO Mobile app (this is a one-time passcode number).

10. you will be asked to name the account. Set the name (you may leave as the default) and click “Done”.

11. In the setup prompt in your browser and select the "Continue" button to proceed with logging in.

A push will automatically be sent as a
notification to the smart device. Tou use a Duo Mobile passcode select other options and Select Duo Mobile Passcode

"Enter a Passcode" will require
a passcode that can generated
from the app like so. The refresh
button on the right will generate
a new code.


(question) Tutorials

đź—‘ Removing a Device

Phone information is not needed to reassign phone.

Upon completion of steps, customers needs to sign in, Duo will walk them through authentication of the new phone.

For in-person help, when adding/replacing a smart device, the customer must have new smart device with them

  1. Login to Duo Admin account: https://admin-d132983a.duosecurity.com/login?next=%2F

  2. Authenticate

  3. Use the search to look for the user profile using the SJSU id number

  4. This will open the profile for that SJSU id number

  5. Scroll to down the phone or hardware section depending on what they have to replace/reassign

    Hardware for fobs
    Phones for smartphone/mobile app

    Click on the trash can to remove assigned fob or phone

  6. Click Remove
