PeopleSoft Buffer Error Solution - External Education

This document will instruct you on how to resolve the issue of receiving the ‘No matching buffer found for level’ when attempting to view a student’s External Education page in PeopleSoft. See below.

  • On the external page, click OK on the message (1).
  • Once the message disappears, click on the Courses and Degrees bread crumb (2).
  • Once the Education Page opens, a message will appear and click OK (3). Then, click on the External Education tab (4).

The most common cause of the buffer error is having a blank External Career. The External Career is either High School or Undergraduate, depending on the organization type.

  • Select Undergraduate for the External Career (5) and go through each organization making sure all organizations have an External Career. (6)
  • Once all External Careers are populated, click Save (7).
  • To confirm the fix was successful, re-search for the student’s external education to see if the error has been resolved.
  • If the message still appears when viewing the external education page, submit a ticket to EMTIC.
