Student Assistant Code of Conduct

Attendance

  1. If you cannot work a scheduled shift, please contact a supervising staff member.

Professionalism

  1. Please limit cell phones usage while on shift. If there is an emergency call, please inform the colleagues via Google chat before you leave the Service Desk area. 

  2. No Visitors while you are on shift.

  3. No food allowed at the front service desk or in the computer area.

  4. No watching videos & wearing headphones while sitting at service desk

  5. PLEASE do not engage in tutoring any of the customers while on shift. Limit you interaction with one customer to 10 minutes.

  6. Upon approval from your supervisor, you may print up to 5 pages of personal papers/month 

Breaks and Lunch

  1. Breaks are only allowed in the middle of the shift except when there is an emergency. Do not take a break in the first hour or the last hour of your shift.

  2. Before you go on break, make sure you inform your colleagues via Google Chat.

  3. If you are working more than 6 hours then you have a scheduled lunch break for 30 minutes. 

  1. ALL FERPA, Level 1 or Level 2 information is collected over the phone or Zoom appointments only.

  2. Use the chat rooms for communicating w/ colleagues for support or to escalate an issue.

  3. Initial ‘Escalations’ should be communicated to staff only.
